If you read the Beauty and Style Section of Lifetime Moms on a regular basis, you might know a few things about me - like my unfailing love for the Tory Burch Reva and David Yurman jewelry.  You know these things because it's what I usually write about as a part of my daily life, and, quite honestly, my job.  I'm actually so very excited to be involved with something a little different, starting t

Are you ready to live a fairytale? The Lifetime Original Movie “Lying to Be Perfect,” starring Poppy Montgomery and airing January 30 at 9 pm et/pt, will inspire you to begin living your happy ending. After watching this enjoyable modern day take on the Cinderella story I felt pardoned and empowered. Let’s face it, we all have told a tinsy lie about ourselves. Am I the only one who has “accidentally” entered the wrong weight on the treadmill? Ok my bad.

I sit and go through old photos, looking at myself at all different sizes. Almost like a catalogue of the trials of my life.

"Oh that was the happy year, I loved my flat stomach."

"Why do I look so bad?  Oh that was the year my oldest son was diagnosed with autism."

There's the pre-child skinny, the ups and downs since then.  Sometimes old photos depress me, but other times they serve as perfect motivation.  Both the "bigger" and the "smaller" pictures remind me that I CAN DO THIS.

Since I spent the last six months indulging in one too many delicacies that added about 15 pounds to my hips and thighs, I'm more determined than ever to get in shape. Part of the reason is that I'm about to set off on a book tour for my new humor anthology See Mom Run and considering the operative word in the title is "Run," I guess it's time to get my posterior in gear. But honestly, who has time to go to the gym?

This one is a favorite around our house. I’ve modified the original recipe from the Zolo Grill slightly to make it more points friendly. At eight, it’s not super light, but it’s filling. The cheese and sour cream do add to the points, so omitting those would help out, calorie wise.

Identify your fitness goal. Why are you exercising?  What is your goal- to be fit, to be healthier, to lose dress sizes?  Quantify it, break it down, map it out.  My fitness goal this time around, now that baby #3 is nearing the 1 year mark, to to get BACK to how FIT I was right before I got pregnant.  I want to lose a minimum of ...

A couple of months ago I decided to go hard core on my diet and see if I could detox and heal and try to get my sad and slow thyroid working again.  It involved eating only vegetables, fats and protein.  No fruits, no grains of any kind, no unhealthy oils.  It was the hardest week of my life.

Growing up I always loved to journal, sometimes I'd be talking to myself, sometimes it would be letters I would imagine sending to boys, mean girls, teachers, etc. but would never actually send.  I chronicled my life, kept track of the ups and downs, created something that I could go back and re-read someday and remember.

Now that I'm concentrating on my health and weight loss and feeling good, I realized that I could journal about this as well.  Not just for the emotional roller coaster, but as a practical matter.  Here's what I do:

Everyone working on losing weight usually comes to the depressing conclusion that it's time to step on the sale.  It's never fun.  NEVER.  It's rarely a number we like, even if we are fit and feeling good, and even if it is, it will still change later in the day, next week, at that certain time of the month.  Our emotions and every mood feel like slaves to that fussy little weighing device.  Some people obsessively weight themselves, every day, maybe even more than once a day.  I have to wonder -- why all the thought on those devilish numbers?
