Loose weight, eat healthy, make more money, save money, take a vacation, cook more, eat less… We all make them, but how many people actually stick to their New Year’s Resolutions?
Last year I vowed to create "a life resolution" instead of a "New Year’s resolution" and even with the covert name change I still wasn’t able to stick to my goals. I vowed to take care of myself, eat better, workout and relax every once in awhile. I’m not really eating that much better, I still haven’t been able to stick to a workout schedule and relaxing, what’s that?

New Year’s Eve has been a pretty unremarkable day for me over the past several years. As the ball drops on Times Square, I have usually been asleep for at least two hours. Prior to losing my first-born this was not the case, however I tried my best to avoid the milestones that signify the passing of time as a way to deal with my pain as a mother without her child. For me this also meant neglecting the New Year’s resolution – resolving to lose a few pounds or to finally get my home organized seemed trivial compared to the real challenges I needed to tackle.

So I’m starting my new year off on the right foot by creating Mommy Resolutions. I’m sure as the year goes on, I’ll discover (and my kids will probably be wonderful enough to tell me) other things that I can improve on as a mom but I know I’m not the only one who needs some improving!
While I don’t want my kids to think that they are full of bad habits or need total makeovers, I do believe that they too can benefit from making New Year’s resolutions. Oh the heck with it! The whole family needs to make some!
