More than ever, families are looking for ways to save a few pennies this Holiday Season. Spending $20 for a new set of LED decorative lights may not be in your shopping plans. But take a closer look at the benefits of switching to LED.

Did you know they actually use one-tenth of the electrical current of the more commonly used incandescent lights?

They are available in a variety of colors, shapes and lengths to suit any taste. Most impressively, they remain cool to the touch, which is a huge plus for homes with small children. This not only reduces the risk of fire, it brings peace of mind to mothers everywhere. I appreciate the shatter-proof plastic casing as well. If one bulb burns out, the rest of the strand actually stays lit. Imagine that!

Replacing your old incandescent light strands with new LED lighting is a worthy investment. They typically last 10 times longer than traditional lights, so you will enjoy them year after year.

Suitable for indoor or outdoor use, LED lights use roughly 90% less electricity than regular bulbs. Of course, this is an environmentally friendly alternative, as well as a huge money saver.

Holiday lights are such a magical part of the season. I have vivid memories of driving around the neighborhood, admiring homes from the car as a child. Now that I have children of my own, I strive to create those traditions. And if I can do so while saving money and doing my part to conserve energy, I definitely will.

Are you making the switch to LED this year?
