Sharing Your Expired Coupons With Others

Sharing Your Expired Coupons With Others

Topicsexpired coupons

Even the most avid coupon user may find themselves with a stack of expired coupons at the end of each month. It seems like such a shame to throw them away, almost like tossing cash out with the garbage. Some stores do accept expired coupons, so it pays to speak with your local managers on their coupon policies. But beyond tossing or recycling them, you're probably left wondering if there's another way to extend their usefulness.

Which brings me to this little known tip -- military families overseas can actually use expired coupons for up to six months after their expiration date. What a great way to help our Armed Forces even if we're on a limited budget ourselves.

If you're interested in sending your expired coupons overseas, here are a few rules to follow via Madame Deals:

Only manufacturer coupons can be used by overseas military personnel. Store-specific coupons, like those for Target, cannot be redeemed.

Food and baby coupons are in much higher demand than pet and medication coupons.

Overseas Coupon Program has a list of mailing addresses for military bases accepting coupon donations. Also, ask people in your community if they know of someone stationed overseas since sending coupons directly to a family rather to the family center on base may benefit the family more.

For a list of other organizations that have coupon projects in place refer to Coupons for Troops.

Complete instructions on how you can share your expired coupons with our troops can be found here. The cost of postage is a small price to pay to maximize the usage of your coupons and help others in the process.

Imagine a friend who is willing to run to the store for you to stock up on home essentials, at great prices, and deliver them to your doorstep, for free. Where can a busy mom find a friend like that?

Just ask Alice. Alice.com, that is. If you haven't discovered the fabulousness that is Alice, now would be a great time to do so. Basically, Alice is another online resource I recommend for saving money on things you buy anyway, while also saving time and the hassle of dragging all the kids to the store. There is nothing I dread more than shopping with all four of my kids! They inevitably ask me to buy them something, or prolong the process by several hours.

Here are the cool features of Alice, from a mom's perspective:

  • Low prices on thousands of household items, with special deals and coupons -- no clipping required!
  • FREE shipping, direct to your door, with a 6-item minimum order.
  • A way to avoid impulse shopping in a store, by buying exactly what you need from the comfort of home.
  • Alice even keeps track of your household essentials, with reminders when you may be running low.
  • Eliminates the chore of loading and unloading kids and shopping bags from the car.
  • No membership fees!
