After this last weekend, I can proudly say that I have planned and executed a total of 27 successful birthday parties for my six children! I can hardly believe it's true!
Not all of the 27 birthdays we have celebrated have been created equal, mind you. We have had birthday parties with jump houses, face painting, pinatas and even magic tricks. Some called for ice cream cakes. Others for giant cupcakes. I even made an elaborate sheet cake, with a pond full of frogs on lily-pads, for one such party. And one was a low-key get-together at our favorite pizza place.
Before every single party, no matter how small, I wonder why I put my overextended self through the stress five times a year. (Remember I have twins. Didn't mean to confuse you!) And then, seeing the joy on each of my children's faces as we sing Happy Birthday, I'm reminded...
Everyone deserves to be honored and celebrated!
