As the youngest of three girls, my first room was my mothers’ sewing room. At age 12 I was ready and my mother taught me to sew, it soon became my passion.
I graduated from Philadelphia’s Moore College of Art and Design and received honors from Saks Fifth Avenue, Women’s Wear Daily and others. I moved on to design teams with Chado- Ralph Rucci, Lilly Pulitzer, Anthropologie, and J Crew- all natural stepping stones to my formation of ‘Lina Bean. After many years working for others, the birth of my first child was the perfect time for me to launch my own line. What better than my childhood nickname for my children’s accessories company...’Lina Bean was born in spring of ‘07.
Since ‘Lina Bean’s launch, I have been enjoying the opportunity to raise my son, stay home, and have a challenging creative outlet in my business. My son and business are a good balance and I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to have both in my life. As a designer turned mom I strive to have each piece of my line functional, practical and polished. My second son is due at the end of September and I am looking forward to the new excitement that this will add to our lives.
