Topics52nd Grammy Awards, bon jovi songs, cbs music, grammy awards, michael jackson 3-D tribute

It seems as if the New Year is chock full of awards shows, but so far, there really hasn't been a show I could sit down and watch with my kids without them wanting to run into the other room and watch re-runs of "Wizards of Waverly Place."  That is, until now. You see, in the past year, my daughter and son have been hooked by music.  So much so, that my son is now taking guitar lessons and is learning songs like "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey and "Beat It," by you guessed it, Michael Jackson.

Ever since the King of Pop passed away, my son has been obsessed.  He is fascinated by Michael Jackson and watches all his music videos on YouTube.  Of course, once the documentary "This Is It" was released in theaters, my son was begging us to go see it and we obliged.  And I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised.  It was amazing to see how his concert tour was developing and it is tragic that he never got the chance to see it to fruition.

Fast forward to Grammy night where my friends at CBS have given me the inside scoop on the 52nd Annual Awards telecast and all I can say is my son is going to be over the moon.  For the first time ever, the Grammys will feature never-before-seen 3D footage of Michael Jackson from his "This is It" documentary.  Now I bet you're wondering - how the heck am I going to watch something in 3D if I don't have the proper glasses?  Simple - CBS just made a special deal with one of my favorite stores, Target (pronounced Tar-Jay for die-hard shoppers) to hand out millions of 3D glasses to their music loving customers.

Plus, Grammy award-winners Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, Carrie Underwood and Usher will join together to perform a moving tribute to Michael Jackson.  I'm sure all those Michael Jackson tunes will have my son dancing on the furniture and moonwalking through our hallway.  Did I mention we now own a cardboard cutout of the King of Pop and we keep it in our house?  I know, strange but true - at least he won't be getting any exclusive invitations to Neverland any time soon.

So how about the rest of the show?  Well, my friend Alicia will be extremely excited to see one of her favorite rock star heartthrobs, Jon Bon Jovi, performing live on the show.  This year, CBS gave viewers the chance to select what song Bon Jovi will be performing the night of the show.  I'm sure Alicia has been voting online since the announcement and if it were up to her, it would be one of his classic songs all the way.

In case you want to cast your vote, visit CBS.com and you can choose whether or not Bon Jovi will perform "Always," "It's My Life" or "Living on a Prayer."   The results will be announced live on the show which means even Bon Jovi doesn't know what he'll be singing - though I think he probably has all three songs pretty much committed to memory.

Of course, there are tons of appearances my daughter can't wait to see like Lady GaGa, Justin Bieber, Beyonce, the Black Eyed Peas and Taylor Swift (my personal fave).  And personally, I'm just happy I can kick back and watch the show right along with my family.  If you'd like to find out more about what's in store for this year's Grammy Awards, then visit the official Grammy website to find out all the details.  And if you're a huge music fan, then check out the Grammy Facebook page and become a fan today.  The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast this Sunday, January 31 from 8:00-11:30 PM, ET/PT on the CBS Television Nework.
