Even during seasons that carry a lot of neutral colored items, there is always at least one pop of color, if not an entire palatte.  If you've been wondering what that color is for fall (or happened to miss the other articles from this week that are all about it!) I'll just tell you that it's purple.  Absolutely, positively, perfectly purple.  Audrey has shown you some hot pieces for your wardrobe and already taught you how to incorporate some purple into your look, but have you ever considered purple as a makeup trend?

The rocker chick look is very in for fall, and you can actually use purple makeup to accentuate that look.  Deep purples are a great, slightly softer alternative to using blacks when it comes to creating a smokey eye.  As we get older (and let's face it, we all eventually do) it gets harder to wear black shadow without it looking too harsh.  So, if you want the perfect smoky eye and you are over the age of 25, I recommend trying out the purple eye instead.  And, of course, who can resist a girl in a leather jacket and a smokey eye? 

If you are trying to accomplish a sexy, purple, smokey eye, I recommend using MAC eyeshadows - they are highly pigmented so they last a really long time and are just my absolute favorite.  I'll be very honest and tell you that these eyeshadows are not cheap - 15 bucks a pop in an individual case, or 11 bucks a pop if you are going to put them in a pro palette (which I definitely recommend, they are cheaper and don't take up nearly as much room in your makeup bag - plus, you actually get the exact same amount of shadow!).  Even as a mom on a budget, these shadows are worth it.  I have a rather extensive collection of them myself - well over 30, but I have owned most of them for over 2 years.  The ones I use as a sort of shadow base go a bit quicker, but the darker colors last for a very long time.

So, how can you achieve the perfect purple look?  Start with a neutral eyeshadow - I love MAC's Seedy Pearl - and sweep it over the entire eyelid, all the way up to the browbone.  If you want to add some extra dimension, apply a touch of a brighter purple like Parfait Amour right above the lashline before applying a contouring color like Trax in the crease of the eyelid.  Use a thin eyeliner brush to apply your darkest contour color as an eyeliner, or instead opt for an eggplant colored pencil, and apply as close to the last line as possible.  To make your eyes appear wider, apply the eyeliner a bit thicker as you reach the outside of your eyes.  Finish the look off with a black mascara, and voilà - you've created the perfect, smokey, purple eye.  You can draw some additional ideas and inspirations from the pictures above, but following those steps witll give you a basic smokey eye!
