I never miss an awards show.  Well... I take that back.  I never miss the red carpet footage before an awards show.  The fashion is really what it's all about, right? 

I remember when I worked for Donna Karan we would send dresses to celebrities wishing and hoping they would decide to wear "our" dress to the "show."  We would all be in the office glued to the TV, hoping that when the celebrity stepped out of their limo, a Donna Karan creation would be on them. We would just hope that when they were trying dresses on, they would slip on the Donna Karan and just know that this was it.  It's crazy to think that every designer in the world is hoping their dress will grace a red carpet... it's their equivalent to winning an "Oscar!" Everyone sees their creation... and from there, everyone wants it!

Well... this past weekend I tuned into the Golden Globes.  I had spent the week previous in Los Angeles for the People's Choice Awards, so I was ready for some different kinds of fashions to dazzle the red carpet.  The People's Choice Awards are all about fun and Hollywood chic.  The Golden Globes are all about glamour at its finest.  Stars are born... on the actor and on the fashion front.

Since I write about Mom Fashion, I was really honed in on watching the celebrity moms.  It's fun seeing what cuts and styles they choose.  Not to mention, their choice of color.  To me, it's an exciting as watching the Superbowl (sorry, honey!).  There were definitely some show-stoppers for me.  There were 5 women that stood out for me the most.  What I loved most about seeing these beauties in their fashions for the Golden Globes was that they made smart choices.  They looked gorgeous.  They looked stunning.  They played the part of Hollywood glamour.  And they looked appropriate.  Their kids would be proud!

Here are my top 5 BEST DRESSED MOMS from the Golden Globes:

Courteney Cox (mom to Coco) mesmerized me in this gorgeous black Victoria Beckham gown.  I love the simple elegance to it.  Show-stopping for me.

Julie Bowen (mom to 3 little boys) from Modern Family.   She looked classically beautiful in this classic  black strapless George Hobeika gown, with sequin waist detail.

Julia Roberts (mom of 3) turned away from the long gown and just sparkled in this black vintage YSL dress with spectacular pendant.  This is what I love about Julia’s choice… she truly exuded confidence in this.  And she looked COMFORTABLE! Julia has such an essence about her that is so appealing.  I swear she could show up in a trash bag and still look gorgeous!  (I'm kidding...!)

Amy Poehler (mom of 1 little boy) from Parks and Recreation.  She dazzled in this stunning red asymmetrical Jay Godfrey gown, with detail on the shoulder and a waist-cinching belt.

Maggie Gyllenhaal (mom of 3-yr old Ramona) exuded elegance in this salmon-colored RM by Roland Mouret mermaid gown.
