Is your Free Web Based Email Costing you Money?

How many emails did you send out today? Two, four, or maybe even six emails? Did you know that by using a web based email client you are missing out on an opportunity to market you business? If you are using a web based email service like yahoo, gmail, AOL, or hotmail for your business or brand you are missing out on an easy and free way to market your business.

On average I send out approximately 10 – 20 email messages per day, that’s approximately 70 to 140 messages per week! Check your sent messages and see how many promotional opportunities you missed today.

If you replace your name@gmail.com or name@hotmail.com email address with name@companyname.com then you are exposing (marketing) your company name with every email you send out. You are automatically building your brand and business. Not convinced?

What’s your first reaction when exchanging business information with someone and they give you a card with a name@yahoo.com email address. What about when they hand you a card with janejoe@lovelyflowers.com? Incorporating your business/brand in your email address presents a much more professional image. It says you are a REAL business.

Assuming your web site domain and your business name are the same, it should be fairly easy to set up a branded email. Plus most hosting companies include several free email addresses which you can create. It’s fairly easy to set up, but if you have problems you can always contact your hosting provider.

Using your web site domain isn’t the only way you can gain free and easy marketing. Another great tool is your email signature. Your email signature can be used even if you don’t have a web site address for your business. Best of all, once you set up your signature you don’t have to do it again unless you need to make updates.

Not sure what to include in your signature? Decide what information you want to share with someone or possibly sell in the future. In my email signature I include my name, phone number, web site addresses, phone number, twitter handle, and facebook page.

So for every email I send out, which is around 10 – 20 emails, I’m giving myself some free publicity to approximately 70 to 140 potential customers.
