See What’s New with Office 2010

This morning Steve Ballmer the CEO of Microsoft was on the radio with Ryan Seacrest talking about the recently released Microsoft Office 2010.

I’ll be the first to admit that I hate changes, I cringe every time I have to upgrade my Wordpress and I especially hate when Microsoft upgrades Office. I am currently using two different versions; one at home  that I am completely used to and an upgrading version at work. At work I’m still hunting for the spell check and other features that I use on a daily basis. I really hate when they move stuff around in the name of efficiency. It was efficient before you moved it because I knew where it was!

But today after listening to Mr. Ballmer and hearing about the new features of Office 2010, I actually got excited and even checked out the Microsoft website to get more information.

I think the new Microsoft Office 2010 is an important tool for busy business owners, freelancers, bloggers and entrepreneurs and I’m looking forward to the upgrade. Here are just some of the cool features Office 2010 has to offer.

Work on the same file at different locations

One of my favorite features of the new office is the ability to work with clients and/or groups more effectively. Co-authoring is this new feature in Word 2010, PowerPoint 2010, Excel, Web App and One Note 2010 that allows you to work in the same document with others even if they are in a different location.

Get work done any time or any place

The new Office 2010 allows you to store documents, spreadsheets, presentations and notes online which gives you the opportunity to look at them anywhere, no matter where you are. With Microsoft Office Mobile 2010 you can stay current and respond quickly straight from your Windows Phone. You can also access, view and edit files with Microsoft SharePoint Workspace 2010, if you make a change, everything will automatically sync to the SharePoint server when you are back online.

Stay connected

Outlook 2010 has a new feature called Outlook Social Connecter. You can use this new feature to quickly view history of e-mails, meetings or attachments you receive from individuals. You can stay on top of your business and social circles through SharePoint My Site, Windows Live, or other 3rd party sites.

Get your message out instantly

Broadcast your PowerPoint presentations to a remote audience even if they don’t have PowerPoint installed. They can now use the new PowerPoint Broadcast Slide Show to view your presentations from a web browser on their own computer.

Get visual

Office 2010 allows a slew of new design options to help you spruce up your next presentation or report. With new options like color saturation and artistic effects you will be able to transform your document into a visual work of art.

Manage emails

Save valuable time by compressing long e-mail threads with Outlook 2010. Categorize, prioritize, and file new emails quickly.

Stunning presentations

Captivate your audience by embedding and editing videos directly in PowerPoint 2010. You can trim, add fades and other effects to key scenes.

Store everything in one place

OneNote 2010 allows you to track, organize and share text, pictures, multimedia files all in one location.

Work faster

Microsoft Office Backstage helps you work faster and more easily by giving you a centralized space for all of your file management tasks, including save, share, print and publish. You can even create customizable tabs to fit your work style.

Microsoft Office 2010 will definitely help the Mom Entrepreneur, business owner or freelancer get work done efficiently so they can get back to their other job, being mom.

Are you planning on upgrading? What other tools do you think are important for business owners to have in the arsenal?
